City Break Sofia: accommodation & sightseeing planning
It seems that Sofia city is becoming more and more appealing to the tourists, who love the city break trips and enjoy finding new places and exploring new culture. Sofia ranks among the most desirable new destinations in Europe because of several factors and these are: the affordable flights provided by the budget airlines, the excellent accommodation in Sofia serviced studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments offered at reasonable prices, the numerous historical monuments and cultural sights, and of course the great restaurants serving tasty traditional meals plus the busy nightclubs that are open until the break of day. The flights are now offered only by Wizz Air, which is enlarging the number of destinations to and from the Bulgarian capital Sofia, in contrast to another low-coast airline operator SkyEurope which closed doors a month ago. The flights with Wizz Air are comfortable, fast and what is most important – very cheap, which makes them affordable by students and other young people based in Europe that are curious to visit Sofia but are on a budget.
Accommodation in Sofia however is very diverse and depends on what the traveler is looking for. There are five-star hotels and small family hotels, there are also hostels for those who like to dormitory-atmosphere and do not mind sleeping with other people in one room or sharing the bathroom. There is yet another good option which is becoming more and more popular among the tourists and these are the serviced apartments. These properties are various in style and size, offer accommodation for one to several persons, provide privacy, are centrally located and what is very important – they are not expensive. These apartments could be studios, one-beds and two-bedroom apartments, maisonette flats, all of them nicely furnished and coming with full extras. So, if you want to visit Sofia, but do not have money to spend in fancy restaurants – cook for yourself and make your own coffee in the morning. By renting such an apartment people feel free and get the feeling as if they really live in the city and have an apartment in Sofia… at least for a few days.
The places to be seen during a city break in Sofia, once you have chosen the Sofia apartment and have left your luggage there are the Alexander Nevski Cathedral which is the main attraction of the city, the Russian Church which is a few steps away and the Boyana Church with its amazing garden which is in the outskirts of Sofia. Tourists should also know that there is a very beautiful mosque in Sofia set in the centre, as well as a synagogue. Other good sites to visit are the Natural Science Museum and the Sofia Zoo. If you have half a day left, then go to Vitosha Mountain for mountain walking and hiking but know that there are some very nice pubs along the way. Sofia is a great destination for a city break, so enjoy it!
