Which types of apartments in Sofia were purchased most in 2010
The trade of properties in the capital in the past 2010 year can not be compared with the fast pace and the large number of deals before the crisis, but certainly the real estate market in 2010 was more lively than that in 2009. In general, the demand for properties in Sofia and the deals made were mainly for one-bedroom apartments and rarely for two-bedroom apartments. During 2010 there was almost no demand for offices and small commercial areas in Sofia for starting a family business.

According to the analysis of the real estate companies, the prices of the apartments in Sofia have stabilized in general, and although the first half of 2010 had no many deals, during the second half of the year the number of the sales has increased by 5-7 percent. When it comes to the rentals in Sofia however, that percentage was nearly forty, and this is easily explained with the market conditions and the reluctance of people to take mortgages because of the uncertainty of their income and their jobs.

It is interesting to note that in 2010 the greatest demand was for one-bedroom apartments in Sofia, followed by a demand for two bedroom apartments. The interest in the studio apartments was the weakest, being concentrated mostly in the areas around the universities and the metro stations. Buyers are mainly former tenants, which buy their first home in Sofia. The prognoses for year 2011 are for lasting stabilization followed by an increase of 2-6 percent in the price of the Sofia apartments.
