The capital of Bulgaria: a tempting weekend destination
Sofia is a great destination for a weekend visit and short-term breaks. It is easily accessible through budget airline carriers, trains and buses; the food is tasty and cheap and the accommodation is fabulous thanks to the serviced Sofia apartments for rent, concentrated in the centre of the city. Sofia is also one of the religiously tolerant cities in the world, and right in its centre there are an Orthodox cathedral, a synagogue, a mosque and an evangelical church, all set within fine minutes walking distance from one another. And this is only one of the curious facts about Sofia.
Besides churches and great historical sights, the city tempts with impressive markets, large and nice parks and three-lined shopping streets, not to mention the numerous malls with their cinema centres and various discounts. Sofia is a great city to explore and a fantastic base for one-day trips to places such as Rila Monastery for example. It is also a good starting point for visiting other impressive cities such as Veliko Tarnovo, Koprivstica, Plovdiv and even the Black Sea coast. Of course, these cities are best to be reached by car and the tourists are often using the services of the car-rent companies.
The places that should not be missed in Sofia and which are close to the apartments for rent in Sofia include the book market on Slaveykov Square, the Boyana Church and the nearby National History Museum. The restaurants that serve good food are scattered around the city and are many to be enumerated. They come with reasonably priced menus and tasty meals. The night clubs in the Bulgarian capital are all friendly and there are specialized clubs for the different kinds of music, as well as the different sexual orientation.
